RIP Yash Chopra


King of Romance is no more

The King of romance, filmmaker Yash Chopra, who passed away on Sunday 21st October. He died last evening in Mumbai at 5:30 PM after a prolonged dengue infection which led to multiple organ failure. His body will be brought to Yash Raj Studios to allow people to pay their respects to him between 9 AM to 12 noon.

Yash Chopra changed the meaning of romance in Hindi film industry. His unforgettable contribution are remained are etched in everyone's memories and have left a mark in their lives. Deewar, Kabhie Kabhie, Silsila, Chandni, Lamhe, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge,  Dil to Pagal hai and Veer-Zaara  are some of his masterpieces. He worked over five decades with more than 50 films. The iconic legend won six National Awards and 11 Filmfare Awards. The Government of India honoured him with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2001 and the Padma Bhushan in 2005 for his contributions towards Indian cinema.

Before falling ill, he was working on his last film called ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ which is scheduled to release this Diwali. JTHJ is his 22nd film as a director, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.He had announced his retirement from film direction  on his 80th birthday. Entire film industry, political fraternity was shaken by the news.
